What sizes of Christmas trees do you offer?

  • Fraser Premium: 5 to 10 ft
  • Balsam Premium: 4 to 13 ft
  • Balsam #1: 5 to 10 ft
  • Balsam #2: 6.5 to 8 ft
  • Wild Fir: 6 to 8 ft
  • Tabletop tree: ~3 ft

Each range is sold in one-foot brackets at checkout, for example 7 to 8 ft or 8 to 9 ft. Every size is delivered right to your door, anywhere in our delivery areas.

Balsam Premium trees from 11 to 13 ft are available online, but in limited quantities. If you have your heart set on that height, order early.

For a tree over 13 ft, email us at admin@bosapin.com. These trees require special transport and we need to confirm availability with you.

Fraser or balsam, Premium or #1: how do I choose my Christmas tree?

Two things set our trees apart: the variety, which determines the look and the scent, and the quality, which reflects how full the foliage is and how even the shape is.

The Fraser has a structured silhouette and blue-green needles that it holds onto for a long time. Its sturdier branches handle heavy ornaments well. It is the choice for carefully styled rooms and for households that put the tree up early. It comes in Premium quality only.

The Balsam is the Quebec classic. Fuller and softer, it fills the house with a scent no other tree matches. It comes in three qualities.

  • Premium: flawless shearing, even shape, no gaps.
  • #1: very handsome, with a few natural irregularities.
  • #2: more rustic, with a few gaps and a less even shape, for those who like the forest look.

The Wild Fir falls into none of these categories: it has never been sheared. Widely spaced branches, unpredictable silhouette, no two alike.

The Tabletop tree, about 3 ft tall, is perfect for small spaces or for decorating a table, a counter or a sideboard.

How wide is a Christmas tree?

A Christmas tree is roughly half as wide as it is tall. A 6 to 7 ft tree will therefore take up 3 to 3.5 ft of floor space.

A good habit before ordering your tree online: measure the space you have, then subtract a few inches for the stand and for walking around it.

Can I choose the exact height of my Christmas tree?

Our trees grow naturally, so we sell them in one-foot brackets rather than at an exact height. They are measured from the base to the tip of the highest branch.

If you have a specific height in mind, choose the bracket above it and add a note to your order, for example "8 ft tree if possible." Your driver will pick the closest match from the trees on the truck, and can trim it on the spot if needed.

Can I choose the height of my Wild Fir?

No. Wild Firs range from 6 to 8 ft and we cannot guarantee a precise height. Since these trees are never sheared, each one is different, and that is exactly what makes them charming.

How long does a real Christmas tree stay fresh?

Indoors, expect 3 to 4 weeks. Two habits make all the difference: never let the water reservoir run dry, and keep the tree away from heat sources.

If you are the type to put the tree up early and keep it well into January, go with a Fraser. It holds its needles the longest.

Outdoors, it will last until spring.

Can I wait before setting up my Christmas tree?

Yes, as long as you place it properly. Leave it outside in the shade, sheltered from the wind, and avoid setting it down on asphalt. If you can, stand the base of the trunk in a bucket of water. That is what will keep it in the best shape until you bring it in.

That said, the conditions a tree waits in outdoors are entirely out of our hands. A tree left in the sun or wind can dry out within days, and we cannot be held responsible for its condition in those circumstances.

One precaution when you bring it inside: if more than an hour has passed between delivery and the tree reaching water, cut a thin slice off the base of the trunk before placing it in the stand. The base dries out in open air and takes up water less well; a fresh slice solves the problem.

Fill the reservoir as soon as the tree is standing, and never let it run dry after that.

Are your Christmas trees fresh?

We grow the trees we deliver ourselves, which lets us control when they are cut. The harvest runs from mid-November to early December, and the trees are kept cool until they head your way.

At delivery, your driver cuts a thin slice off the base of the trunk. That fresh cut lets the tree start drinking as soon as it is in its stand.

Where do your Christmas trees come from?

All of our trees are grown in Quebec. We are growers ourselves, and our plantations are located in La Patrie, Milan, Béthanie, Carignan and Saint-Jean-Chrysostome.

For every tree we cut, we plant a new one, so the plantations renew themselves year after year.

Is a real Christmas tree more eco-friendly than an artificial one?

Yes, and the gap is wider than most people think. An artificial tree cannot be recycled or composted. Made from PVC, it ends up in a landfill and stays there for generations.

A real tree, on the other hand, grows for more than seven years before it is harvested. All that time, it captures carbon, produces oxygen, holds the soil in place and shelters local wildlife. For every tree cut, a new one is planted. After the holidays, it is composted or turned into mulch.

Do you use pesticides?

A tree spends several years in our fields before it finds its place in your living room, and we care for it at every stage of its growth. Our trees are not certified organic. However, we follow our agronomist's guidance to keep our trees healthy, using approved products in minimal quantities. Most of that work is done at ground level, to keep weeds from choking the young trees. These lands have supported us for years and we intend to protect them.

Can I cut my own Christmas tree at your farm?

Yes. Our u-cut farm is located in Saint-Jean-Chrysostome, in the Lévis area. It is open Friday through Sunday, from November 21 to December 19.

Book your time slot ahead of your visit at autocueillette.bosapin.com. That is what guarantees your spot.

Once there, you walk the plantation and pick your tree from those still growing. You cut it yourself with a hand saw, then bring it back to the welcome area on a sled. We then run a cord around the tree to close up the branches and make it easier to transport.

Plan to bring your own gear for tying the tree to your vehicle: rope, straps or bungee cords. That is the one thing you will need that we do not provide.

Our nutcrackers are on site throughout your visit to lend a hand. There is also a shop, stocked with the same items as our online store.

Can I rent a Christmas tree for an event?

No, we do not offer rentals. A cut tree that spends a few days in a heated room will start to lose its freshness and cannot go back into circulation.

For an event, buying is still an option, and our wreaths and fresh branches, available in the accessories section, are an affordable way to decorate a room.

Do I need a Christmas tree stand?

Yes, and it is not included with the tree. Most of our customers reuse the same stand for years, which is why we do not build it into the price.

If this is your first real tree, choose a model with a water reservoir. That is what keeps the tree hydrated throughout the holidays. You will find some in our accessories.

Do I need a stand for a Tabletop tree?

It is strongly recommended, otherwise your little tree will not stay put. Two models can be added directly from the Tabletop tree's product page at checkout: a basic plastic stand and a reusable deluxe stand.

Can I order several Christmas trees?

Yes, with no limit, as long as inventory allows. Everything is done directly on the site.

Beyond 20 trees, email us at admin@bosapin.com. A delivery of that size requires a dedicated truck and we may need to adjust the date with you.

Can I order a Christmas wreath without a tree?

Yes. Our wreaths can be ordered on their own, in the accessories section of the site.

I can't place my order

Start by refreshing the page or trying a different browser. Most issues clear up right there.

If the problem persists, reach out through our contact page, telling us which step is blocking you and the error message if there is one. We will get back to you quickly and can complete the order with you if needed.

How do I change my order?

Up to 5 days before your delivery date, you can handle everything yourself:

  1. Open your order confirmation email.
  2. Click the Edit my order link.
  3. From there, you can change the delivery date, add products or leave a note for the driver.

To change the items themselves or apply a promo code, you will need to cancel the order and place a new one.

After the 5-day mark, the edit page closes. Reach out through our contact page and we will see what is still possible.

How do I cancel my order?

You can cancel up to 24 hours before delivery. No fees apply.

Up to 5 days before delivery, cancelling is done through the Edit my order link in your confirmation email. Between 5 days and 24 hours, reach out through our contact page.

My delivery is today and I need to cancel

Reach out right away through our contact page, including your order number.

We cannot promise anything at this stage: the day's routes are already set and the truck may be on its way. We will still look at what can be done.

I can't find my confirmation email

Check your junk mail first, that is the most common explanation. You can also find your order by logging into your customer account.

Otherwise, reach out through our contact page and we will send it again.

Is there a promotion running?

Our subscribers hear first. Follow us on social media or sign up for the newsletter to get our offers as soon as they launch.

I already ordered and a promotion just launched

Our promotions do not apply retroactively. You will need to cancel your order and place a new one, which is possible up to 24 hours before delivery.

Two things to check before cancelling:

  • Make sure your tree and your delivery date are still available. Some models go fast, and cancelling releases your reservation.
  • If your purchase came from a fundraising campaign, place the new order using the link provided by the organization, otherwise their rebate will not be credited.

Can I see what I ordered last year?

Yes, your full order history is in your customer account.

If you cannot get in, reach out through our contact page and we will look it up for you.

I have a credit from last year, how do I use it?

If you received a code, enter it directly in the field provided at checkout. Nothing else is needed.

If you do not have a code, place your order as usual, then forward us the email confirming your credit. Once the amount is verified, we will refund it to you.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards. Payment is made online, at the time of your order.

Do you offer payment on delivery?

No, payment is made online when you order. That keeps our routes moving and lets your driver spend the time setting your tree up properly rather than handling a transaction at the door.

When is my card charged?

At the time of your order. Your tree and your delivery date are reserved in your name from that moment on.

If you change your mind, you can modify your order up to 5 days before delivery, or cancel it free of charge up to 24 hours before.

Which cities do you deliver Christmas trees to?

In Quebec, we serve Montreal, Laval, Quebec City, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke and the Basses-Laurentides, along with much of the Montérégie, Lanaudière and the Eastern Townships. We also deliver in the Ottawa-Gatineau area.

Bôsapin is growing. With Treasy, we now deliver in the Toronto area as well.

To find out whether we deliver to you, enter your postal code in the field at the top of any page on the site. You will be directed automatically to the right place to order.

Prefer to see the whole territory at a glance? Have a look at the map of our delivery areas.

What are your Christmas tree delivery dates?

We deliver from November 21 to December 19.

Dates vary from one area to the next. Every date available where you live appears in your cart once you have entered your postal code. Weekends go first.

Can I choose my delivery time?

Your Christmas tree delivery comes in two options.

Standard delivery. You choose the date, not the time. Our drivers are out between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., and usually finish before 8 p.m.

Flex delivery. Available in select areas, this option lets you book a 4-hour window. A flat fee applies and the amount is shown in your cart when you select the option.

Either way, you will receive an email two days before delivery. It contains a tracking link showing your approximate delivery time, then the truck's live position on the day itself.

I haven't received my delivery time yet

The tracking email goes out two days before your delivery date, once the routes are set. If you have not received it, check your junk mail.

Still nothing? Reach out through our contact page and we will send it again.

Can I change the delivery time I was given?

No. Each route is optimized around every stop of the day, and moving one delivery shifts all the others.

You do not need to be home. Whenever possible, the driver leaves your order in the spot indicated in your delivery notes. There does need to be a safe place to set the tree down, which is not always the case in apartment buildings.

Why can't I choose an earlier date?

Dates that do not appear are either full or outside the route planned for your area. We do not serve every region every day.

None of the dates work for me, will you add more?

No. Every date for the season is posted when sales open, and none are added along the way.

That is why we recommend booking early: weekends and the dates closest to Christmas fill up first.

How do I change my delivery date or leave a note for the driver?

Open your confirmation email, click Edit my order, then I want to change my delivery date. Choose the new date, write a note for the driver if needed, and confirm.

This page closes 5 days before delivery. After that, reach out through our contact page.

I don't remember my delivery date

It is in your confirmation email and in your customer account, under your order details.

Will the driver set up the Christmas tree in my home?

Yes. If you are home and your tree stand is already in place, our driver will set the tree right into it. All we ask is that you clear the space before we arrive: the delivery goes faster and nothing in the room is at risk.

If you are out, or if the space is not clear when the driver arrives, the tree will be left outside, in the spot indicated in your delivery notes.

It is one of our nutcrackers who will ring your doorbell, tree over the shoulder. In many households, that visit marks the real start of the holidays.

No tree stand yet? You will find some in our accessories.

Do you set up Christmas trees outdoors?

No. A tree standing outdoors has to be securely tied down to withstand the wind, which takes gear we do not supply and anchoring suited to your property.

The driver will leave the tree wherever you like, but outdoor setup is up to you.

I won't be home on delivery day

In most cases, that is not a problem. The driver will leave your order at your door, or in the spot you indicated in your delivery notes. There does need to be a safe place to leave the tree, which is not always possible in apartment buildings.

If you get home several hours after the driver has come by, cut a thin slice off the base of the trunk before setting the tree in its stand. The full details are in the question about waiting before setup.

To add a delivery note: open your confirmation email, click Edit my order, then I want to change my delivery date. Confirm the date, write your message and save. This page closes 5 days before delivery; after that, reach out through our contact page.

You don't deliver in my area

Our routes are planned each year based on demand, and the territory changes from one season to the next. Start by checking your postal code in the field at the top of the page.

If you are not covered, let us know you are interested through our contact page. Those requests feed directly into how we plan the following year's routes.

We delivered to you last year and the system now says otherwise? Reach out, it is most likely a postal code error and we will fix it.

I'm moving, how do I change my delivery address?

If you already know your new address, enter it when you order, provided it falls within our delivery areas.

If the move is not confirmed, order with your current address and reach out through our contact page at least 2 weeks before delivery. Available dates can differ from one area to the next, so changing your address may mean changing your date.

Should I tip the driver?

That is entirely up to you. That said, not every delivery takes the same effort. A 5 ft tree left at a ground-floor door is a world away from a 10 ft carried up to a third-floor apartment on a stormy night. If your driver had their work cut out for them, the gesture will be appreciated.

Who delivers my Christmas tree?

Our nutcrackers. They are our drivers, trained and in costume, and they cover the streets of Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa-Gatineau and Toronto through November and December.

They arrive with your tree, cut the base so it can drink as soon as it is standing, and set it into the stand if you are home and the stand is already in place. Having your Christmas tree delivered, with us, is not just an order showing up at the door: it is a moment many families look forward to year after year.

My tree arrived damaged

Reach out through our contact page within 7 days of receiving your tree, then follow the steps you are given. An agent will take your case from there.

To speed things up, have your order number and a photo clearly showing the problem on hand.

Our trees are selected one by one and transported with care, but they are living things and they are fragile. When something goes wrong, we take care of it.

I don't like my tree

My Christmas tree is dry, what should I do?

Start with a simple test: gently bend a small branch. If it snaps clean, your tree is indeed dry. If it bends without breaking, it is still in good shape.

If it really is dry, reach out through our contact page within 7 days of receiving it, then follow the steps you are given. An agent will take your case from there. To speed things up, have your order number and a photo clearly showing the state of the tree on hand.

After that window, we can no longer guarantee the tree's condition. A cut tree is still a living plant, and how long it lasts depends a great deal on the care it gets once it is with you: water at all times and plenty of distance from heat sources.

My tree isn't drinking water

There is no real cause for concern. A tree drinks a lot during its first week, then cuts back sharply. The differences from one tree to the next are considerable, and some drink very little right from the start.

Keep the reservoir full all the same. A tree that drinks little will still look beautiful for weeks, as long as it is kept away from heat sources.

My tree is dropping a lot of needles

In the first few days, that is normal. Trees travel stacked together, so a good share of the needles you are sweeping up may not even be from your tree. That is exactly why the driver knocks the base of the tree against the ground before handing it over: the impact shakes loose the needles caught in the branches.

Once the tree is standing, the shedding should ease off quickly. Keep the reservoir full at all times and keep the tree away from heat sources, which speed the process up considerably.

If needles keep falling in quantity after a few days and they are dry and brittle, it may be a freshness issue. Reach out through our contact page within 7 days of receiving your tree, then follow the steps you are given. An agent will take your case from there.

How do I run a Christmas tree fundraiser?

The idea is simple and requires no logistics on your end. You share your organization's order link with your community. Everyone orders on our site and receives their Christmas tree at home, just like any other customer.

Your organization earns a rebate of 15% of the amount before taxes and delivery fees, paid out after the delivery period.

Is there a minimum in sales to receive the rebate?

There is no minimum number of sales. That said, we pay out rebates starting at $40, which works out to roughly 4 or 5 orders. Below that threshold, processing costs exceed the amount owed.

Are the delivery areas and service the same for a fundraising campaign?

Yes. Same territories, same dates, same service as a regular order.

Check your postal code in the field at the top of the page, or have a look at the map of our delivery areas.

I'm not sure my order was linked to my organization

Reach out through our contact page with your order number and the name of the organization you want to support. We will check the link and add it on our end if it was not recorded.

There is nothing else for you to do: no need to cancel your order or place a new one.

How do I create a customer account?

Enter your email address on the login page. You will receive a one-time code by email right away: enter it and your account is created.

Coming back later works the same way. No password to remember, just a new one-time code to enter.

If the email is slow to arrive, check your junk mail.

What is a customer account for?

It keeps your order history, handy for looking up the variety and height you chose last year, and it saves your details so future orders go faster.

How do I update my information?

Log in, then open the Profile section. From there you can update your contact details and your addresses.

I forgot my password

There is no password to remember anymore. To log in, enter your email address on the login page and we will send you a one-time code, valid for that login only.

How do I change my newsletter email address?

First unsubscribe your old address, using the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email you have received, then sign up again with the new one.

Changing the address on your customer account does not change your newsletter address: they are two separate lists.

What should I do with my Christmas tree after the holidays?

Most municipalities collect real trees in January and turn them into mulch or compost. Check your city's collection schedule: the window is often limited to a week or two.

To protect your floors and avoid scattering needles through the whole house, we offer an extra-large disposal bag in our accessories. When you take the tree down, lift it out of its stand and slide it into the bag before carrying it out.

I'd like to become a Christmas tree delivery driver

We hire every fall for the holiday season. Reach out through our contact page and tell us about your experience and your availability.

Our drivers, our nutcrackers, are the face of Bôsapin in our customers' homes. The job takes physical fitness, a valid licence and a genuine wish to make people happy: you are the one arriving at the door with the tree, often in front of children who have been waiting weeks for this moment.

How can I reach you?

Reach out through our contact page. Describe your situation and include your order number if you have one: the form lets us handle your request with the full picture in hand.
